Every year the Fundación MIR, hosts the ‘Retiro Carismatico’, which in English translates to “Charismatic Retreat” or more accurately “Spiritual Retreat”. This is the 26th year of the 3-day annual event which has been a tradition in Casa de Campo since 1990. It is organized by Lian Fanjul de Azqueta and Lyanne Azqueta, President and Founder and Executive Director of the Fundación MIR, respectively. This year, it will take place from Friday, September 30th – Sunday, October 2nd.
The theme is “Caminando de la mano misericordiosa de Dios,” Walking alongside our merciful God. The aim of this retreat is to open the hearts of the people, embrace religion and impart and share biblical knowledge. The retreat is open to everyone; children, teenagers and adults, and is of course, free!
All the events from the Spirual Retreat will be held at the Flamboyan Conference Centre at the Casa de Campo Hotel, except for the Misa por los Enfermos (Mass for the Healing of the Sick), at the Politécnico Fundación MIR, located on the Km #2 of the La Romana-Higueral highway. Free transport to and from each activity will depart daily from the Obelisco in La Romana.
This year they will have the participation of Mons. Ramon E. Albino Guzman of the Diocese of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico; Mr. Miguel Calzado y los Señores Felipe de la Parroquia Nuestra Señora de la Medalla Milagrosa in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico; Sister Carol Razza from the Warriors of Worship Ministry, and members of the Comunidad Siervos de Cristo coming from Santo Domingo who are devoted to teaching the word of God.

The Fundación MIR is a non-profit organization which works to provide education to the children of the greater La Romana area, who are most in need. They run 3 schools; the MIR Esperanza (boys vocational school), the Escuela Técnica Vocacional Fundación MIR (girls vocational school) and the Primaria MIR (infants school).
