Last Friday, September 11, the Fundación MIR celebrated their 15th graduation of 97 students from both their boys and girls school. The ceremony was carried out in a successful and unprecedented way by dividing the event into three groups in order to comply with the social distancing measures recommended by the Ministry of Health of the Dominican Republic.
Parents and special guests virtually witnessed the students’ happiness and celebrated this special occasion with the graduating class thanks to the live transition by the institution. The members of the board of directors were present at a distance; Mrs. Lian Fanjul de Azqueta, who founded the Fundación MIR in 1990, Ms. Lyanne Azqueta and Sandra Hernández, who were visibly proud of the many achievements of the students.
As every year two deserving students were awarded the “Don Alfonso Fanjul” university scholarships, these were: Victoria Josefina Cordero Cepeda and Pierce Kenrri Sosa, who during their speech also thanked God and the Foundation for helping them follow their dreams and for their continued support in making them feel part of a great family. The General Director of the schools, Monique Acevedo expressed her pride and urged the students to continue to see life as the most precious treasure and never stop pursuing their dreams; “MIR will always be your home and we will always welcome you with open arms.”
Congratulations to all and many thanks to Fundación MIR for its commitment to such an important task!
