The Fundacion MIR, a non-profit organization with a boys and girls vocational schools in la Romana recently celebrated their 14th graduation of pupils from both their boys and girls school.
The graduation was held on August 16th at the Fundación MIR “Salón Multiusos”, located in Campo MIR Nueva Esperanza and was a joyous occasion, when hundreds of friends and family of the graduated classes turned out to support and celebrate with the 103 graduating pupils. Lian Fanjul de Azqueta, who founded the Fundacion MIR in 1990 took part in the ceremony, joined by Lyanne Azqueta were both visibly very proud of the student’s numerous achievements and all their hard work.
The diplomas were presented by the principal of the MIR schools Monique Acevedo. And the scholarships “Alfonso Fanjul” were awarded to the students Bienvrisayda Vilorio Caraballo and Cesar Eduardo Martes Cedano for their outstanding performance.
The members of the board of directors were present at the graduation, Mrs. Lian Fanjul de Azqueta, founder of the MIR Foundation, Lyanne Azqueta and Sandra Hernández, who were visibly proud of the numerous achievements of the students. As special guests, the event included Mrs. Robin Bernstein; Ambassador of the United States in the DR and her husband Mr. Richard Bernstein; Mr. Olivo Rodriguez; RD Ambassador to Spain, Mrs. Virginia Objio de Rodriguez, Mr. Jorge Sturla, Mrs. Mafalda Formisano, Messrs. Luis Alfonso and Annie Paniagua, Mr. Teodoro Ursino Reyes; Provincial Governor; Dr. Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas; RD Minister of Public Health; Mr. Hector Concari, Messrs. Diego and Sofía Renedo, Mr. Ney Collins; Regional Art Technician; and Architect Silvia Sánchez.
The student oath was made by Mario de Castro. During his speech, he also thanked God and the Foundation for helping them follow their dreams and for their continued support by making them feel part of a great family. The students who graduated this year are now beginning a new stage in their lives, closing one chapter and opening another, full of goals and plans, including job offers in progress.

The Fundación MIR is a non-profit organization which works to provide education to the children of the greater La Romana area, who are most in need. They run 3 schools; the MIR Esperanza (boys vocational school), the Escuela Técnica Vocacional Fundación MIR (girls vocational school) and the Primaria MIR (infants school).
