So far this Hurricane Season, the Dominican Republic has been very lucky – every Tropical Storm and Hurricane which looked to be heading our way have gone North of the island. And now it looks like Tropical Storm Ophelia is predicted to go the same way! Wooohooo!
• Tropical Storm Ophelia is currently located 1807 miles to the South East of Santo Domingo, the capital city of the Dominican Republic
• Tropical Storm Ophelia is moving North-West at a speed of 12mph
• Tropical Storm Ophelia is predicted to continue moving North-West and will track above the Leeward Islands, above Puerto Rico and above the Dominican Republic – great news for everyone living in the Caribbean!
So for now it looks like, we may get some nice sunny weather in Casa de Campo and the Dominican Republic – woohoo this weekend we can enjoy some beers, golf and boating!
BUT is something else nasty on it’s way?
During Hurricane season there is always something sinister and nasty looking lurking on the horizon (or rather off the coast of Africa). Right now there is a nasty looking Tropical Wave – which is already predicted to become a Tropical Depression in the next few days. But don’t panic – the further out a “Tropical Cyclone” system forms the MORE likely it is to head North, so fingers crossed that system will be a Northern lover too!
