Casa de Campo’s “Flavors of the World” gastronomy events have made quite an impact within the resort over the summer months, as visitors and residents sample cuisine from Spain, the Dominican Republic, Miami and most recently, Italy. With just three more installments left in the series that concludes in November, we look forward to Mexico’s entry next weekend, September 16-18th, featuring Chef Geraldo Vázquez Lugo from Nicos.

Nicos in Mexico City falls within Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants of 2015, which pinpoints Chef Geraldo Vázquez Lugo as a “passionate advocate of local sourcing and traditional styles of cooking. His menu chronicles the country’s diverse regional flavours and cooking techniques.” The architect-turned-chef left his career to apply himself entirely to his passion in Mexican cuisine. He has appeared on numerous television shows in Mexico and Europe and collaborated with national publications on cooking and recipes. Gerardo has also participated and directed several food festivals in Mexico, the United States, Canada, Guatemala, Colombia, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, Puerto Rico, Japan, China, Spain and France.

“Flavors of the World: Mexico” will feature a dinner at Plaza Chavón on Friday, September 16th at 8:30 p.m., followed by a Beach Party at Minitas Beach Saturday afternoon. As in the past, the beach party will have no fee to attend, just the individual cost of food and beverages consumed. Sunday morning a brunch in Minitas Beach with Casa de Campo’s Executive Chef, Anthony Masas will conclude the foodie weekend.

  • Saturday, September 17th: Beach Party at Minitas Beach, 12:00 – 6:00 p.m; cost of food and beverage consumed.
  • Sunday, September 18th: Brunch in Minitas Beach with Chef Anthony Masas and Chef Geraldo; $50 p/p.

The 4th edition of Flavors of the World was dedicated to Italy, featuring a very talented and young chef, Alba Esteve Ruiz from the restaurant Marzapane in Rome, Italy. As we anxiously awaited the start of the meal, we saw more and more people arrive as excited as we were to try everything Chef Alba had prepared.
