As part of the 40th-anniversary celebration of the Altos de Chavón amphitheater, Big Show Pro and Casa de Campo will present the grand concert “Fernando Villalona, El Mayimbe Returns to Chavón” on August 12 starting at 8:00 pm. The artist will take the audience through his five decades of musical career.
In 1986, “El Niño Mimado” rocked the stage of a budding amphitheater that had already hosted world-famous stars such as the illustrious Frank Sinatra, Buddy Rich, Santana, Joan Jett, and Heart.
Everyone who experienced this unforgettable concert remembers a Dominican artist giving his all to the audience, sharing his talent through merengue songs that have remained beloved and etched in the hearts and memories of Dominicans.
Thirty-seven years later, Fernando hopes his devoted fans will be present on a night that will go down in history as the warmest and most entertaining encounter he could offer to his beloved Dominican Republic.
The audience will have the opportunity to accompany the most charismatic, beloved, and cherished Dominican artist at the Altos de Chavón amphitheater, singing along to all his hits, from Tatico Henríquez to “Seré,” “La hamaquita,” “El gusto,” “Cama y mesa,” “Muchachita mía,” “Delirante amor,” “El Quijote,” “La cartita,” “Dominicano,” “Carnaval,” and many more.
Big Show Pro, led by renowned entrepreneur Nestor Caro, announced that this unforgettable concert will feature special guests of Fernando Villalona’s unique musical history.
“With a night of merengue, bachata, bolero, and even salsa, we will celebrate five decades of a man dedicated to art and culture, filling us with pride every time a Dominican hears an iconic song like ‘Dominicano soy’ or ‘Carnaval’ anywhere in the world. It leaves so many hearts brimming with national pride and a joyful emotion for being born in the land of Duarte, Sánchez, and Mella,” emphasized Caro.
The most advanced technical resources and state-of-the-art special effects will be present at this concert, promising to be one of the most impactful productions of 2023.
In addition, a large expanded orchestra, directed by Maestro Manuel Tejada, and a selection of outstanding musicians will bring their artistic excellence, elevating Fernando Villalona’s repertoire to its highest expression.
