Fernando Varela, a distinguished artist – originally from Uruguay, has been living in the Dominican Republic since 1975 and is now considered to be one of the country’s most internationally successful artists. Most famous for his contemporary paintings with aboriginal symbols and imagery of sugar cane in both subdued black, brown and cream shades, as well as more tropical tones of blue, pink and orange, the paintings of Fernando Varela can be seen proudly displayed on the walls of many a Casa de Campo villa – as well as in homes across the world. The exhibit, a mixture of Varela’s most recent works (hence the name) features pieces from 3 collections; Origins, Primary Forms and Caribbean Series.
