Carrefour in Altos de Chavón opened on December 1st 2012 and despite rumors that they would stay open longer, they closed on Monday December 31st – much to our disappointment!
For those of us living and working in Casa de Campo and especially those of us based in Altos de Chavón and/or Los Altos, having Carrefour with it’s fresh bread, delicious paté, cheeses and saucisson on our doorstep was quiet simply wonderful! You will be very sorely missed Carrefour!
Where now? For those of you (myself included) who fell in love with Carrefour – as much for the excellent prices as for the exceptional quality and produce you simply cannot get anywhere else – we will all be able to continue shopping at their flagship store in Santo Domingo. Santo Domingo is not quiet as convenient as Altos de Chavón, but – now with the new “overpass” – Carrefour is much faster and easier to get to than ever before – see below for directions.

Directions (from Casa de Campo):
Drive past the Las Americas airport and upon entering Santo Domingo cross over the “Puente 17” (bridge 17), from there drive up the road called “Kennedy” – taking all the overpasses and then you will arrive at Carrefour. Please note – I have not yet followed these instructions so I hope they are correct, if you have any doubts please use google maps on your phone!
