On Thursday the 22nd of October, the Altos de Chavon art gallery cordially invites you to the inauguration event for their new art exhibit; ‘Artesacro Santos de Palo.’
This new exhibit features the art of Mauricio Brito and Martin Lopez, below you can read all about these artists:
Mauricio BRITO
Mauricio is a painter, sculptor, muralist and ceramist and a native of Bonao, the capital of Monseñor Nouel province, in the Dominican Republic.
He began developing a great passion for drawing and the painting, from a very early age.
In 1990, when only 13 years old he started at the Culture of Bonao Center of Arts institution in Bonao, led by the master teacher Bidó. He was recognized as an excellent student,and awarded a Merit upon his graduation. In the 2002 he received the Cándido Bido Museum’s Honorary Young Painter Prize and the Honorary Prize of the I.A.D, at the Casino of the Yuna.
At the moment, he is professor of ‘plastic arts’ in this same center, the Culture of Bonao Centre of Arts.
Martín LÓPEZ
Also from Bonao, Martin showed had artistic inclinations from a young age.
After passing several courses on painting and drawing, he entered the Culture of Bonao Centre of Arts in Bonao, to study plastic arts, under the direction of the master teacher Bidó. He received several prizes for his clean and streamlined drawings, as well as praise for his sculptures.
In 1997, He became a professor at the School of Plastic Arts of the FAD, where he has received recognition from the officials for his teaching achievements.
