The Cultural Walk program

The Cultural Walk program is designed to immerse attendees in the rich heritage of San Pedro de Macorís, highlighting the following aspects:

  • 9:30 – 10:00 am: The starting point will be the west facade of the Cathedral of San Pedro Apóstol, where visitors will receive a warm welcome and an introduction to the tour.
  • 10:00 – 10:45 am: The next stop will explore “San Pedro de Macorís, The Built Heritage,” highlighting the city as a melting pot of cultures and an icon of unique architectural styles. The Cathedral, the epicenter of this history, will be revealed as a place of profound significance.
  • 10:45 am – 12:30 pm: Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the visitable spaces of the Cathedral, from the stained glass windows that offer an immersive experience in Gothic art to the baptistery with traces of Mudejar art. The rich permanent collection of sacred art in the Sagrario Chapel and sacristy can be appreciated.

After this cultural immersion, lunch will be served at the Cathedral Café, giving participants a well-deserved break before continuing their exploration.

  • 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm: The tour will continue to explore the heritage of San Pedro de Macorís, highlighting the European influence in commercial housing and the residence of the Cataldi Hughes family. Visitors will have the opportunity to step inside these historic locations and enjoy an exhibition of paintings by Niccolo Cataldi, an artist who graduated from Parsons School of Design and Altos de Chavón School of Design. The day will conclude with a glimpse into the central hall and patio, followed by refreshments.

It’s a unique cultural experience and an activity with a purpose. The proceeds generated by this Cultural Walk will be directed to Hogar del Niño, contributing to its noble cause.
