William Everett, Casa de Campo’s very own fine jeweller and long time resident, has added an exciting new line to his already impressive jewelry collection. The new line, simply called Caña, has been inspired by the lush sugarcane fields surrounding La Romana. This unique jewelry clearly resembles sugarcane and has been beautifully sculpted to represent the contours and instantly recognisable shape of the sugarcane. The line currently includes bracelets, cuff links and earrings in sterling silver and 18K gold, and would make an interesting and entirely original addition to any outfit.
Sugarcane, or Caña de Azucar, was first introduced to the Americas in 1943 by Christopher Columbus on his second voyage to the island of Hispaniola, now known as the Dominican Republic. In colonial times, sugar was a major product of trade between the New World and Europe. Nowadays the production and processing of sugarcane plays a major role in the economy of La Romana as well as the whole of the Dominican Republic. It is refreshing to see jewellery inspired by something taken for granted in our everyday lives and is a welcome reminder of the natural beauty of sugarcane in the fields.

The Amber Collection
The amber used in the Amber Collection originates from mines high in the Dominican mountains and is hand cut and mounted to provide a lasting reflection of Amber’s beauty and allure.
Treasure Coins
Each extraordinary piece is crafted from rare 17th and 18th Century coins minted in the New World for the Kings of Spain, which have been recovered from shipwrecked galleons.
Gems and Jewels
The pieces in this exquisite collection are made of stunning many-hued precious and semi-precious gems and pearls collected from exotic lands.
