This is what we’re telling parents to feed their kids, our future generation, and we wonder why there are so many cases of ADD, ADHD, rising autism rates, rising addiction rates, lack of concentration, obesity and overall laziness. Let’s think about this for just 1 second. The brain needs proper nutrition in order to function, it needs vitamins, omega 3 fatty acids and minerals, we cant just put anything into our body and expect it to work to its maximum capacity. I know this analogy is old as sin but if you put water into your gas tank, your car wont run.
If we put over processed, refined junk into our bodies our bodies and brains wont work properly, especially our innocent children who’s little brains are still developing and need good nutrition to continue growing and thriving. Just read the article in Time magazine to get a better idea of the negative effects of processed foods.
If you’re really short on time one day or are having an impossible to solve craving have the grilled cheese, but choose whole grain (not whole wheat) bread and real cheese, not cheese product that comes individually wrapped and looks like plastic and add a side of fresh raw carrots. Try breading and baking your own chicken strips instead of frying them, freeze grapes and banana slices to conquer an ice cream craving and my biggest tip, add fruit to every breakfast and vegetables to every lunch and dinner!
Aim for at least one green vegetable a day, not including salad, and you’ll be taking your first baby step towards helping your child get the nutrition their body needs to be in tip top shape. Need help substituting a particular food item or favorite recipe? Let me know and I’ll find a way to help you solve it!
