Renowned Dominican artist Manuel Macarrulla has added a burst of color and cultural vitality to the Altos de Chavón Regional Archaeological Museum with his latest exhibition titled Traguito de Carnaval. Opening its doors on February 3, the showcase features nine vibrant works that celebrate the rich traditions of Dominican carnival culture.

Macarrulla’s paintings capture the essence of Dominican culture with honesty and authenticity, portraying elements like diablos cojuelos and roba la gallina with vivid detail. Through this work, he explores the historical roots of Carnival while celebrating its enduring significance in Dominican society.

Hosted in collaboration with the Patronato Benéfico Oriental (PBO), the exhibition marks the beginning of Dominican Carnival festivities and highlights the museum’s commitment to fostering cultural dialogue.

Visitors can experience Macarrulla’s captivating showcase until March 3, 2024, from Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission is free. Guests and interested groups can contact the museum or reach out via Instagram.

Proceeds from the exhibition will support social programs aimed at empowering vulnerable communities, reflecting the PBO’s dedication to promoting values of respect and solidarity.
