elementos art furnitureAs part of the 3rd annual Feria barlovento, Elementos art-furniture store in the Marina Casa de Campo, hosted a “Wine and Cheese Cocktail” with Carol Trembley of Casa Wine Shop. Whilst enjoying the music, dancing and masquerade of the Venetian-themed 3rd annual Feria Barlovento, Casa de Campo villa owners, residents and visitors enjoyed a delicious selection of French and Italian wines, which they were invited to pair with a variety of cheeses, whilst enjoying the art-furniture of Jean Pierre Frey, created using discarded pieces of wood and other ‘found’ or ‘rescued’ objects.

Jean Pierre’s unique and gorgeous art-furniture is made from the remains of old traditional Dominican houses – the ones painted in all the colors of the rainbow (pink, blue, green….) – hence the furniture’s unique mix of eclectic colors. Each piece is hand-made in his workshop in La Romana, where he transforms useless pieces of old wood into functional pieces of furniture, that not only look great, but can serve as the focal point of any room – just like any other work of art. As well as furniture Jean Pierre also has a number of Dominican-inspired paintings, that perfectly reflect the Dominican culture and lifestyle with all it’s vibrancy and color! And just recently from salvaging the old wooden Casa de Campo signs, Jean Pierre has created a new line of art pieces – see the photo left.
