El Ser Libre y Feliz

The foundation El Ser Libre y Feliz, headed by Andrés Vélez Cordero, founded earlier this year and inaugurated on March 1st at La Marina,  will be celebrating their first International Golf Tournament on Sunday, October 23rd to be played on the Dye Fore Golf course. This will be followed by a lunch and award ceremony at La Casita in La Marina Casa de Campo.

The tournament benefits the foundation’s pilot project, the Escuela de Educación Especial Padre Sebastian Cavalotto (Father Sebastian Cavalotto Special Needs School), which currently has more than 150 students with special needs. El Ser Libre y Feliz recognized the urgency to raise additional funds to improve the school infrastructure, educational program, psychological evaluation and follow up program, parent education, updated training and education for therapists, sanitary infrastructure and other areas for the benefit of the children in La Romana and their families.  This will help those less fortunate live a productive and independent life, elevating their self-esteem as they grow and learn in a nurturing environment. Andrés Vélez Cordero says:

“The idea is to create an atmosphere of acceptance and respect in their environment through three main components: the diagnosis of general accessibility, improvement of educational processes; and the design of a sustainable strategy. Our goal is to be able to replicate this initiative in other special education schools in the country.”

The “El Ser Libre y Feliz International Golf Open 2016” will be played on one of Pete Dye’s designed courses, the Dye Fore and will be dedicated to Dr. Manuel Ramon Canela Escano, Master of Gynecology and Obstetrics in Latin America. The director of the tournament is Mr. Antonio Olivo. The golf tournament will cost RD $6,000 per participant and includes a welcome cocktail on Saturday, October 22nd at La Casita in La Marina Casa de Campo, plus breakfast and lunch on Sunday, October 23rd. Spots are limited to 100 players, so SIGN UP NOW!
