From the 17th to the 22nd of March, Dr. Hudson, the personal dentist of Pepe Fanjul along with a group of volunteer dentists and surgeons from the Columbia University in New York, will be in La Romana offering dental services to the pupils of the Fundación MIR schools.
Calling themselves the “smile” team, this group of enthusiastic volunteers will work tirelessly to provide dental health care – as well as advice at the MIR Esperanza (boys vocational school)!
Thanks to the support of the “Operación Sonrisas” and the Patronato Benefico Oriental (umbrella organization for the Hogar del Niño), they will be working with a wide range of equipment and modern facilities, such as a fully equipped mobile unit, where the dentists will able to examine the children, take x-rays and perform other necessary proecedures in order to boast the dental health of the many children who attend the Fundacion MIR schools in La Romana.
The Fundación MIR
The Fundación MIR is a non-profit organization which works to provide education to the children of the greater La Romana area, who are most in need. They run 3 schools; the MIR Esperanza (boys vocational school), the Escuela Tecnica Vocacional Fundación MIR (girls vocational school) and the Primaria MIR (infants school).
