More than 90 golfers from different continents celebrated last weekend the “DR Golf Tournament 2015” on the golf course Teeth of the Dog in Casa de Campo, this tournament was held as part of the agenda of the international event – Dominican Republic Golf Travel Exchange 2015.
The tournament was played in the Canadian Stableford format in pairs, divided in two male categories, A and B with two first places and a female category with two places.
In the A category, the first place was for the couple formed by Cristian Leon and Alan Blondin with a total of 76 points, and secondly Oliver Boucher and Mario Leclerc with 69, while in the B category, the first place went to Mark Francois and Martin Nicholls with 63 points, and the latter was conquered by Ruben Alejandro and Feliciano Rodriguez with 62 points.
In the women’s category, the first place was reached by Ana Escobar and Cecilia Rodriguez with 62 points and the second place was for the couple Brigitte Wawrosky and Olga Vargas with 58 points.
Each of the winners received allegorical handmade designs inspired by the tropical beauty of the Dominican Republic, pieces which were created by the artist and architect Rafael Alba.
The award ceremony was held at the Lago Grill Restaurant and was led by Teddy de Lara, director of the Dominican Republic Golf Travel Exchange, a professional platform that seeks to consolidate the golf tourism in the country. De Lara, speaking at the ceremony emphasized the level of play in the tournament, highlighting the enthusiasm of all the players.
Besides playing in the Teeth of the Dog, a 18 holes golf course, designed by the famous Pete Dye, the players also participated in two additional rounds, one in Cocotal Golf Club Melia Caribe Tropical, and the other one in Punta Espada, located in Cap Cana.
