The Casa de Campo Regatta, which took place last month on the 11th, 12th and 13th of March was a great sailing event, with 3 days of fast flying sailing and parties to match. But in amongst all the fun the Casa de Campo Regatta committee decided to give a little something back to the people of La Romana and committed to donate part of the proceeds of the Regatta to the Orfanato Niños de Cristo (Orphanage in La Romana.)

The 5th annual Casa de Campo Regatta attracted 22 boats, who, over 3 days took part in 4 regattas (boat races), in the waters outside of the Marina Casa de Campo, which was finally won by boat ‘Let’s Ride’ captained by Juan Rodriguez. Organizers of the Casa de Campo Regatta, Gianfranco Fini, commodore of the Casa de Campo Yacht Club, Josie Gonzalvo, the Director of the Marina Casa de Campo and Alma Taveras of WT Events decided that they would like to make a donation to a local La Romana charity as part of the event. And so shortly after the event was concluded Rafid Ynirio (on behalf of Gianfranco Fini), with Alma Taveras visited the Orfanato Niños de Cristo and presented Yacht Club member and co-founder of the Orfanato, Orietta Pietrobelli and Yanet Castillo with a substancial check to help the orphanage continue to expand and improve its facilites.
