The Dominican National Golf Championships, otherwise known as the “Copa Orange”, which was last year played in Casa de Campo, will this year be played at the La Estancia Golf Resort in La Romana from the 7th to the 10th of June.
The culminating event of the Dominican National Golf Tour, the Dominican National Golf Championships (the “Campeonatos Nacionales”) is one of the biggest and most important golfing events in the Dominican Republic – at the end of which all participating golfers receive their oficial golf rank in the Dominican Republic and the winners of the various categories received prizes and trophies to recognize their achievements, with the most successful players offered the chance to represent the country in the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships.
This year the tournament, organized by FEDOGOLF (the Dominican National Federation of Golf), with principal sponsor Orange Dominicana is being played in honor of Ubaldo Olivares, in recognition of his contributions in helping both FEDOGOLF and Orange Dominicana continue to improve and maintain golfing standards in the Dominican Republic.

In addition to tournament rounds, which will be played over 4 days on La Estancia’s P.B designed golf course, 2 golf seminars will be given by renowned golf instructor Don Cesar Rivera and golfers and their guests will enjoy a cocktail party hosted by Orange Dominicana on Saturday evening June 9th.
The Dominican National Golf Championships 2011 – in Casa de Campo
Last year the Casa de Campo resort was the proud host of the Dominican National Golf Championships – the following is a recap of the events and activities we enjoyed as part of the event.
On Saturday the 25th of June 2011, as part of the ‘Copa Orange’ National Golf Championships, Orange Dominicana the event’s main sponsor held a cocktail in honor of the great golf course architect Pete Dye, the man behind Casa de Campo’s world famous golf courses; the Teeth of the Dog, the Links and the Dye Fore.

The 4 day golf tournament played from the 23rd to the 26th of June 2011 on Casa de Campo’s famous Pete Dye designed golf courses; the Teeth of the Dog and the Dye Fore and ended with a monumental sudden death finale in category A, between veteran Juan Manita Campusano and Ernesto Vietienes, who had to play hole #18 four times in order to decide winner, with Campusano finally being crowned the champion. Meanwhile, in the professionals category Julio Santos took home the ‘Copa Presidente’ and a cash prize of RD$100,000.
