In a triumphant celebration of art and culture, WAO Galery & Cultural Center in Altos de Chavón officially unveiled the exhibition Playful Memory by Dominican artist José Almonte on the evening of Friday, November 3. The event brought together a distinguished gathering of art lovers, friends, and community members.

Guests at the opening had the privilege of immersing themselves in a collection of 13 captivating pieces, each serving as a testament to Almonte’s exceptional talent and artistic diversity. As one of the most highly regarded and influential figures in the art scene of the Dominican Republic, Almonte seeks to convey to the public the recovery of the “Playful Memory” that we form throughout our lives, especially during childhood. With artful precision, he enables us to reconstruct and reinterpret this memory, acknowledging that each individual possesses a unique narrative that reflects their capacity for playful expression, all masterfully captured on his canvas.

The inauguration also featured a toast sponsored by Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, offering a delightful moment of camaraderie for all attendees. The exhibition’s curation was skillfully handled by Margarita González Auffant, the curator of WAO Galery & Cultural Center, and the artistic display was meticulously crafted by artist Miguel Ramírez.
