Last month, a group of doctors from Weill Cornell Medicine Center visited the country to talk about the care, treatment, and recovery of those suffering from all types of conditions and injuries related to the spine. The group was formed by Dr. Roger Hartl, neurosurgeon and director of the “Center for Comprehensive Spine Care”, Dr. Neel Mehta Director of the Department of Medicine for pain, Dr. Jaspal R. Singh Director of Rehabilitation Department, Dr. Bridget T. Carey neurologist; and Mrs. Tracy Maltz, physiotherapy supervisor.

The hotel JW Marriott Hotel in Santo Domingo served as the setting for the dissertations of these specialists, who belong to the staff of the Weill Cornell Medicine Center for Comprehensive Spine Care. The guest speakers focused on the care that should be taken by people suffering from problems in the spine noting that not all of them result in a surgery, as well as in the most advanced techniques with rigorous scientific standards, that they implement in this center for the fast and effective recovery of their patients.

Dr. Härtl, director of the center, explained that back pain is the second most common reason why people seek medical help. In addition, he explained that most of the time this pain is so chronic and progressive that not only impacts the daily functioning of those who suffer from back pain but affects their quality of life. When referring to the reasons why the patient should visit his medical center to address this problem, the scientific researcher also noted: “In our clinical facilities, dedicated to comprehensive care of the spine, not only do we have 15 doctors, distributed in four spinal specialties; but we also have all the most advanced techniques.”

This event was supported by prestigious companies such as Laboratorio clínico Amadita, Imágenes Referencia, Market View canal 14 and Grabo Estilo. The co-directors of the Weill Cornell Medicine Center for Comprehensive Spine Care, Doctors Jaspal R. Singh, Neel Mehta and Bridget T. Carey emphasized that when patients go to this center they can get the attention of all specialists in one place without the need to move to another building. Also, the doctors agreed that in this center patients can be treated by doctors of global recognition in specialties, such as neurology, pain management, rehabilitation medicine, neurological surgery and minimally invasive interventions.
