This month, we celebrate International Woman’s Day, and to commemorate this day Diagnóstica Social has a special offer on Bone densitometry giving all women the opportunity to be checked. Bone densitometry, also called dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry or DEXA, is commonly used to diagnose osteoporosis and to assess an individual’s risk for developing fractures.

Bone densitometry uses a very small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body (usually the lower spine and hips) to measure bone loss. It is a simple, quick, and noninvasive exam and requires little to no special preparation. DEXA bone density testing is the most accurate method available for the diagnosis of osteoporosis and is also considered an accurate estimator of fracture risk.

Diagnóstica Social is offering a special price on bone densitometry exams this upcoming Tuesday, March 8th for International Woman’s Day. You can call and schedule an appointment or walk-ins are also welcome. If you don’t have insurance you only have to pay RD$500 and if you do, remember to bring in your doctor’s note and you do not have to pay the difference!! The center was inaugurated in 2010 and has since provided the local community with advanced medical diagnoses exams, such as Mammograms, MRIs, X-Rays, amongst others. Diagnóstica Social also sponsors services to those who can’t afford them. The center is located inside Central Romana, next to the main Central Romana Hospital/medical center, and is part of the Patronato Benéfico Oriental,  the charity organization which supports the Hogar del Niño.

Don’t forget to take some time off your busy schedule and get checked! Remember, early detection is key in treating any health issue!
