In 1970, the world’s greatest art celebrations started in Basel, Switzerland. So how does this remarkable art movement relate to Casa de Campo and Altos de Chavón? Let’s find out…
Art Basel
In 1970, three gallerists based in Basel, Switzerland had an innovative vision for the city and founded one of the most influential art trade shows in the world. After over 40 years, Art Basel annually presents three international art shows in Asia, Switzerland and the US.
The art world convenes for these three international shows in some of the world’s most exciting cities: Basel, in the heart of Europe; Miami Beach, at the nexus of North America and Latin America; and Hong Kong, one of the most international cities in the world. Together, nearly 200,000 visitors view works of art presented by over 500 of the world’s leading art galleries.
This summer, thousands of private collectors, museum groups, curators and art critics from around the world attended the 45th edition of Art Basel in Basel, Switzerland in June 2014.

“Davidoff is delighted to partner with Art Basel to engage our customers in Europe as well as in the United States, and most recently, in Hong Kong. Each of these global events has given us an opportunity to share the latest news about the Davidoff Art Initiative, which we launched at Art Basel in 2012. As we look to expanding our Art Initiative worldwide in the years to come, it gives us great confidence to combine forces with an organization that knows how to engage art patrons and enthusiasts, and whenever they seek to fill time beautifully.”
