Danilo Vicioso, Casa de Campo resident and editor of Casa de Campo news has just returned from Argentina, where he competed in the South American Swimming Master Championships – here Danilo shares his good news:
I would like to take this opportunity to share some good news about my swimming. Just last week I competed in the IX South American Swimming Master Championships in Mar del Plata, Argentina. Racing against the best in the region in my age group of 45 to 49 year olds, I walked away with four gold medals and one silver medal from five events. Although my times were not as good as I had hoped, I still had a great year between Argentina and this past summer at the US Master Nationals in Indianapolis.
My next big challenge will be in the summer of 2010 at the World Championships in Sweden, where I hope to better my two bronze medals from the last World Championships.
I would like to take this opportunity to once more sincerely thank Alfonso Paniagua and Tom Wahl for allowing me to practice at the pool of La Romana Country Club. My sponsor for this meet was Microtek, through Woo Young Shin who, together with the Central Romana and Grupo Vicini, made it possible for me this year to travel to these championships.
What Danilo doesn’t mention is that he is now ranked in the 10 swimmers in the world in his category of 45-49 years old.

Danilo’s results were as follows
- 2oo and 400 meter individual medley, time: 2:27.33 and 5:30.05
- 100 and 200 meter back-stroke, time: 1:06.81 and 2:30.14
Silver medal:
- 100 meter fly-stroke, time: 1:02.92
