The neighboring cities of Higuey and El Seibo are also taking part. The Convite, named after a Dominican music group that was dedicated to the interpretation of folkloric rhythms of the Dominican Republic between 1972 and 1977, aims to encourage participation and integration of all the diverse regions of the Dominican Republic, with the objective of developing and promoting the cultural development of the nation. As part of this Convite, a full program of artistic and cultural activities will be taking place today and tomorrow in La Romana, declared as the “Ciudad Cultural” (Cultural City) of the region.
