Mrs. Xiomara Menéndez’s picturesque Bahía Minitas villa recently hosted December’s heartwarming Café de la Leche, illuminating the holiday season with joy. As the founder of the Hogar del Niño charity, Menéndez radiated a warm holiday spirit, embellishing her exquisite home with festive décor and orchestrating a gathering that united neighbors and friends for a good cause.

This event, renowned for its festive ambiance, has become a cherished tradition in the community. Eggnog, cider, sangria, and an assortment of Christmas treats adorned the buffet, setting the stage for a memorable evening. Yet, beyond the merry revelry, attendees’ generosity shone through as they contributed candies for the Hogar del Niño’s upcoming Christmas festivities.

More than a celebration, Café de la Leche symbolizes community solidarity in supporting the Hogar del Niño. These gatherings underscore the collective impact of substantial contributions and kindness.

The spirit of giving extended beyond the event itself, with ongoing donations benefiting over two hundred infants in the Crib Room of the Hogar del Niño, providing essential milk and formula. Additionally, contributions throughout the year to the Patronato Benéfico Oriental have significantly bolstered children’s education, healthcare, and extracurricular activities. Notably, the PBO recently shared that they are working on creating a children’s space on the beautiful Isla Saona, aiming to benefit over 200 island families and more than 60 children sent away annually. The project aims to strengthen family ties by keeping children on the island, fostering healthier lives, and cultivating a more educated and productive community.

As the event drew close, attendees raised their glasses in a toast, bidding farewell to 2023 against the backdrop of a breathtaking sunset in Menéndez’s scenic backyard overlooking the sea. Reflecting on Patronato Benéficio Oriental’s achievements in the past year, guests eagerly anticipate the prospects of further positive impact in 2024.
