On Friday December 12th, you are cordially invited to the opening of “Colectiv@ 5” a photography exhibit that represents the collective work of 5 artists; America Olivo, Lowell Whipple, Mary Rosa Jimenez, Clara Martinez Thedy and Ángel Ricardo Rivera.
The exhibit is being put together by Casa de Campo villa owner, Fernando Varela, who is also one of the Dominican Republic’s most internationally successful artists.
“The works of these 5 artists in this exhibition is related to the sea and water”, Fernando Varela told Casa de Campo Living.
The inaugural cocktail for Colectiv@ 5 will be celebrated on Friday evening December 12th, from 6 to 9pm, perfectly timed so that Casa de Campo ladies can go directly after the magical Christmas Café de la Leche planned to start at 5pm that same evening.
So who are the artists?

Well there’s Ángel Ricardo Rivera from Santo Domingo a fine artist who also has an eye for photography.
Meanwhile Casa de Campo based artist, America Olivo, whose art studio is right here in the Vista de los Altos neighborhood of Altos de Chavón, is the artist who created the beautifully unusual piece named “Ciclos” which brightens the concierge area of the Casa de Campo hotel. America also has a large mural piece “Oleaje” hung in the Casa de Campo Flamboyan conference center. Works of art by America Olivo can also be found proudly displayed in private collections across the Dominican Republic and the world. We enjoyed the artworks of America Olivo at the ‘Woman in Love: Mujer Enamorada’ art exhibit hosted at The Gallery in Altos de Chavón in April 2011.
With more than 25 years experience as a photographic artist, Mary Rosa Jimenez’s current interests include capturing reflections in windows and glass, as well as the interesting juxtaposition of an advertising panel and bystander – something we can all look forward to seeing!
Clara Martinez Thedy, also with more than 25 years experience as a photographic artist is the Dominican Ambassador to the Arab Emirates, as well as a Casa de Campo villa owner.
As for Lowell Whipple, he’s most well-known for his skills as a landscape architect, with the beautiful tropical ambience of Los Altos among his accolades. However those of us on Instagram are also familiar with his impressive skill at photography. From what we have seen from @lowellwhipple (that’s his Instagram name) his focus is on colors, contrast and abstract form, we can’t wait to see his work “en grande”.
