The Altos de Chavón Art Gallery announces the closing of the solo exhibition SOLO LABARCA by Venezuelan artist Gerardo Labarca, based in Montreal, on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025.
The closing event, titled Chill Sunset Finale, will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the gallery, featuring a DJ, drinks and a laid-back atmosphere to bid farewell to this outstanding show.
A unique artistic proposal
The SOLO LABARCA exhibition has captivated audiences with the artist’s contemporary vision, where the interplay of textures and the strength of color bring to life works that explore the duality between the figurative and the timeless. His pieces invite dialogue between modern and classic, sparking reflection and emotion in each viewer.
Labarca, who left behind a successful career in haute cuisine in Montreal to fully devote himself to art, has established a personal style that seeks to capture the soul and essence of his subjects. His portraits transmit intensity and vitality, portraying both timeless icons and figures close to his life.
About the artist
Represented by Winn Slavin Fine Art (Beverly Hills, CA), Labarca has exhibited internationally in countries including Canada, Spain, Italy, Japan, Argentina and the United States. His work has been featured in prestigious publications such as El Nacional (Dominican Republic), Arte Poli (Spain), Magenta (Argentina), Explore Art Projet (U.S.), and Aatonau (Japan), among many others.
With SOLO LABARCA, Altos de Chavón joins this international trajectory by presenting in the Dominican Republic a body of work that reflects the versatility and passion of an artist who continues to experiment with new media and horizons.
