Catalina Island

Want to live in a better world? Then join the La Romana – Bayahibe Tourism Cluster on International Clean Coasts Day (September 20th) to help clean up Catalina Island!

On Saturday September 20th, International Clean Coasts Day, with the support of local businesses and supporters who are providing the boats, a group of volunteers will set sail for Catalina Island to clean it up!

Last year, volunteers from the local Bayahibe school, the Iberostar, Viva Wyndham Dominicus and Dreams hotels, FUNDEMAR (the Dominican Foundation for Marine Research), Gri Gri Divers, the Casa de Campo community, and many other La Romana and Bayahibe locals collected 4,120 pounds of trash – that’s a lot of trash that would otherwise be left in our ocean!

This year volunteers will work together to clean up trash from along the coast of Catalina Island, while certified divers will work to clean up the ocean floor.

Want to help?

The La Romana – Bayahibe Tourism Cluster is looking for collaboration in the following ways:

  • Boats for the transport of volunteers from the La Romana port to Catalina Island
  • Volunteers for the cleaning of coastlines
  • Volunteers for the cleaning of seafloors (ONLY certified divers)
