On Friday, May 29th, we had the pleasure of being part of the opening of Clarlin Rivera’s Atelier and Showroom in La Romana. After learning the craft of silver smithing from her mentors in Belgium and Puerto Rico, Clarlin comes back to her native La Romana to share her artwork and  jewelry with us in her new and cozy workshop at the Gol Plaza in La Romana.

During the opening of this new store at the Calle La Altagracia, we got to see some of her spectacular pieces, enjoy cocktails and a runway show which showcased the collections, “Key to my heart” and “Libertad de Expresión” (“Freedom of Speech”), the later which was inspired by the Charlie Hebdo incidents in Paris last January.

Clarlin’s bold and beautiful pieces are elaborated with precious metals, combined with precious and semi precious stones. The finished pieces also integrate materials which are not conventionally used in jewelry making; this, in order to create contemporary pieces that show the personality of whosoever is carrying them. Her motto “jewels are not to show what you have, but who you are” truly comes through in all the pieces we were able to see.

While our favorite pieces were the silver and cork rings (statement pieces!), Clarlin also has spectacular necklaces, cufflinks, earrings and more.

The intimate store has a collection of jewelry available for purchase, but we encourage you to consider getting a customized piece which she can personally create for you. If interested in getting your very own piece of artwork you can contact her at 829-345-0228.
