Back at the beginning of June the Orfanato Niños de Cristo and the La Estancia golf resort in the La Romana – Bayahibe area hosted the ‘Circus of Dreams’ a acrobatic circus performance and dinner to raise money for the Orfanato (orphanage). Taking place in La Estancia’s main hall – the only place large enough to host all the circus equipment, the crowd of excited spectators from La Romana, Casa de Campo, La Estancia and the Orfanato watched in awe as the circus performers performed death-defying feats swinging from the ceiling with ribbons and twisting themselves into impossible shapes and formations whilst balancing on top of each other to fire-eating, juggling and many other breath-taking stunts! For many, the most exciting and nail-biting moment of the show came when local Casa de Campo resident, Rosalba Fico was called up from the audience to take part in a trick, which involved being blindfolded and having knifes thrown at her!!! Fortunately for Rosalba and her very frightened daughter she survived!

No mummy no!! Rosalba takes to the stage!

These photos show what actually happened to Rosalba….

The money raised from this event will go to helping the orphanage complete its construction of a new part of their school! Here are some more photos of the rest of the show: [nggallery id=906] About the Orfanato The Orfanato Niños de Cristo is a safe-haven, a paradise and a home for the more than 150 orphans who live there. The Orfanato, the other children and the caring people who work there are their friends, carers and their family and despite all that these children have already endured they are happy and loved – thanks to the Orfanato.
