Having just this summer celebrated it’s 40th anniversary, the Casa de Campo resort has a long-standing and prosperous history within the La Romana area and indeed the entire Dominican Republic. Today as the resort continues to grow, modernize and embrace new challenges and opportunities, Central Romana has appointed a resort president.
Mr. Rafael Torres has been appointed as President of the Casa de Campo resort by the Board of Directors of the Central Romana Corporation, Ltd. Mr. Rafael Torres will be responsible for the operational management, coordination and integration of all Casa de Campo hotel and resort facilities.
Mr. Torres has said “[he is] excited to start this new project in a resort such as Casa de Campo. With the collaboration of the Resort’s great team, we will strengthen the resort in the market for luxury hospitality.” Mentioning also said that “the Casa de Campo brand continues its growth within the tourism industry and will continue to grow in different national and international projects.”
Mr. Torres holds a degree in Hospitality Management and Administration from the University of Madrid, and has over 20 years experience in the hotel business. In recent years he served in senior positions as General Manager at International Meliá Hotels in several countries including Spain, Italy, Cuba and the Dominican Republic. Most recently he was responsible for the 4 most luxurious Paradisus hotels in the country (over 1,500 luxury suites), where he oversaw new projects in Palma Real and Paradisus Punta Cana, achieving valuable results for the entire Corporation of the Meliá Hotels International.
In his new role, Mr. Torres will utilize his experience and knowledge of the American, Canadian, European and Latin American markets to oversee the operational management and further the long-term strategic efforts of the hotel and resort, including the creation of a new Hotel and Business division.
A statement issued by the Central Romana Corporation Board of Directors said “Casa de Campo is considered one of the best resorts in the world and we believe that Mr. Torres will achieve the best performance for the organization, integrating a vision with common strategic guidelines” and that “[they are] pleased to have someone of executive and professional profile like Rafael Torres to start the new Hotel Division.”
Given the continued growth of the Casa de Campo hotel and resort over its 40+ year history, we welcome Mr. Torres in this new position and expect that he will deliver many positive changes to our beloved Casa de Campo.
