Last Saturday evening the 6th of November, a large group of philanthropic members of the Casa de Campo community united in support of the ‘Orfanato Niños y Niñas de Cristo’ at the Cena Española, celebrated at the Casa de Campo Yacht Club in the Marina Casa de Campo.
Arriving to this event I felt a sense of excitement, we were met at the door by Enrico and Orietta Citati the event hosts, as well as a number of girls from the Orfanato, who were just adorable. It was so nice to see the girls so genuinely excited to be there and so grateful for everything that the Orfanato does for them, a true testament to the hard work of the Orfanato staff and volunteers.
As we arrived, all the guests were gathered around the bar and the indoors ‘lounge’ area and it was a lovely surprise to see so many ‘part-time’ Casa de Campo residents there – many who we have not seen in Casa de Campo since the beginning of the year. Welcome back to all of you!
With 100 guests pre-registered for the event and many more who arrived and paid on the door, the event was VERY well attended and in fact although there was plenty of food for everyone there wasn’t enough seating! Of course no one complained and everyone was very happy about this – the more the merrier and the more money raised for the Orfanato! Yeah!
As the theme for the dinner was ‘Spain’ (Cena Española) the Yacht club was beautifully decorated with Sevillana hand fans, ceramic pots and flowers with red table settings and the dinner was catered by Andaluz restaurant in La Romana town. To read our review on Andaluz restaurant, click here.
After dinner, there was a raffle in which I won a lovely necklace, donated by the store Art Arena in the Marina Casa de Campo (really Philip won it – but of course he gave it to me!), other prizes were donated from Corpobello, Rubiluna and Ki-Ra Centro Holistico.
Following the raffle there was a Flamenco Show, which was spectacular, the performing couple did 3 wardrobe changes, each time appearing in beautifully eccentric and brightly-coloured traditional Flamenco dress and wowed the audience with their sexy, provocative and skilful dance moves.
Inspired by the Flamenco show, guests passed the rest of the night on the dance floor enjoying the music, the fresh Caribbean breeze from the Marina and the company of good fun people!
Many congratulations to the organisers of this event – it was clear that a lot of time effort and hard work went into making it such a great success! And MANY MANY thanks to everyone who attended the event – your donation goes a long way to sustaining the Orfanato and the more than 150 children who live there.
If you were unable to attend the dinner but would still like to make a donation to this great cause please contact the Orfanato:
