deen mckelvey llumi perez-herreraOn Sunday the 29th of January 2012, Deena McKelvey, long-time Casa de Campo resident hosted a wonderfully fun Baby Shower for Lludmilla Perez-Herrera, who is expecting her first child in March. baby shower brunchThis special occasion was hosted by Deena at her Casa de Campo villa, Casa Alegre, a stunning Casa de Campo estate, stretched along Casa de Campo’s dramatically beautiful coastline, the perfect back-drop to such a wonderful and beautiful event. Upon arrival, Deena’s guests were welcomed into her rustic home with fresh coconut water from her garden (delicious!), as well as Bellini champagne cocktails and started the celebration centered around the “Wishes Tree.”  A new invention in the world of Baby Shower’s, the “Wishes Tree” was the idea of Malele Strofer and Amelia Pereya (of ‘Tres Eventos’ party planning) – guests are given little cards on which to write a wish to the expectant mother (Lumi) and/or her baby and then the wish is hung with ribbon on the tree. Guests then enjoyed a delicious brunch catered by Pitri, served in Deena’s beautiful gazebo, which alongside the villa’s pool has the most gorgeous view of the ocean. To end a fabulous event, the most heavenly Carrot Cake cupcakes from Crema were served – the perfect accompaniment to a good cup of tea!

Congratulations Lumi! lludmilla perez herrera

lludmilla perez herreraLludmilla, a much loved member of the Casa de Campo community, whose permanent home is Santo Domingo, has over the years visited Casa de Campo frequently on weekends and joined us in celebrating many special occasions, but has been living here with us in Casa de Campo since September – the perfect place to relax and prepare for her baby. However, we must now say a sad farewell to Llumi as she is moving back to Santo Domingo, to await the baby and start her new life as a mother!

We wish Lumi and her baby the very best for the last few months of her pregnancy and we look forward to meeting the little one very soon!

A babyshower and a charitable occasion!
