On Friday the 30th of September 2011, the Fundación MIR’s XXI “Retiro Carismatico” (charismatic retreat) opened in the Casa de Campo Cacique conference centre. The 3 day annual event has been has been celebrated in Casa de Campo every year since 1990, organized by Lian Fanjul de Azqueta and Lyanne Azqueta, President and Founder and Executive Director of the Fundación MIR respectively.
This year special guest lecturers Father Mario Castañeda and Mrs. Mary Vadi, from West Palm Beach and Miami Florida, respectively took part in the celebration as well as Father Odhran from Ireland, who was the speaker on Saturday October 1st. The event was hosted and led by Elba and Alexis Camilo, members of the “Siervos de Cristo Vivo y la Casa de la Anunciación y los Señores Miguel y Georgina Calzada” in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.
As is now the tradition, whilst the majority of the retreat took place in Casa de Campo, a special mass to pray for the sick took place in “San Martin de Porres” church in La Romana. This Mass was presided over by the Bishop of Higuey, Monsignor Gregorio Nicanor Pena Rodriguez, accompanied by Father Victor Garcia, pastor of San Antonio de Padua Parish and St. Stanislaus of Krakow, Father Juan de los Santos of St. Peter the Apostle Parish, and others. This celebration was attended by an impressive number of people praying for the healing of family and friends.
The retreat ended on Sunday the 2nd of October in the afternoon with a closing Mass presided by Father Mario Castaneda, who was accompanied by Father Victor Garcia, Father Odhran and Father Juan Antonio Reyes from the parish of Higuey.

Again, the Charismatic Retreat was a great success where many children, youth and adults had the opportunity to hear lectures and share their testimonies and experiences.
The date was set for next Charismatic Retreat to take place on the 28th, 29th and 30th of September 2012.
