On Saturday the 12th of February, ERH Marine hosted a pre-launch cocktail party at the Casa de Campo Marina for the new concept WIDER Yachts. The event, which was sponsored by Grey Goose vodka and Mercedes took place in the Marina Casa de Campo’s beautiful Casa de Campo Yacht Club, with a bar set up on the outside deck which overlooks the marina and all it’s gorgeous boats. For those of us who arrived on the early side we were able to enjoy our first Martini cocktail whilst watching a gorgeous sunset over the boats and houses of the Marina. Approximatly 50 Casa de Campo villa owners, residents and visitors turned out to enjoy the pre-launch for the new WIDER yachts, to enjoy a drink and bite to eat among friends whilst learning about this fascinating new concept which would make the ideal ‘party boat’ for Palmilla! The first WIDER yacht is a 42 ft open day-cruiser, developed from Tilli’s WIDER concept and whos lines are characterised by Fulvio de Simoni. The WIDER concept yachts have an expandable middle, which can be put out (a little like a fold out table) whenever the boat is stationary – this making them WIDER! Other unique features are floating, removable sofas – they function as a seating area whilst on the yacht, but they can ne thrown over board to be used as a float or floating chair in the water – very cool! Also rather cool is the jet ski hold at the rear of the boat – yet another feature that makes this an ideal party boat or perfect for a fun family gathering! It was a lovely evening, from which I left thinking….hmmm I’d quiet like one of those boats!! Last Saturday night turned out to be rather eventful – following this cocktail we headed up to Altos de Chavón where we watched the last part of the Salon de la Fama del Beisbal Latino exaltation of 7 great Latino baseball stars and after that we headed back to the Marina Casa de Campo where we joined our friend Benny for dinner and drinks at Cafe Juanita, who just happened to be hanging out with A-Rod and Cameron Diaz – score!
