With the arrival of Casa de Campo’s Italian community the middle of August in Casa de Campo has been very busy! Over the weekend of the 5th of August, we enjoyed the Café de la Leche monthly gathering, a party hosted by Mr Gandini in the Casa de Campo Yacht Club, the opening of the ‘Azimut Café’ in the Marina Casa de Campo and finally the grand opening of MISTRAL, the Marina Casa de Campo’s newest Italian restaurant!  The opening of MISTRAL took place on Sunday evening the 7th of August and was very well attended by Casa de Campo villa owners, residents and visitors, who enjoyed a wonderful evening drinking colorful fruity rum cocktails and feasting on a range of Italian picadera.

Enjoying a drink at the newly renovated air-conditioned bar at Mistral in the Marina Casa de Campo!

Mistral which was previously Naked Fish has been completely renovated in a blue and white theme, the air-conditioned inside bar area features minimalistic, modern furniture and a flat screen TV, whilst the outside area boasts tables with parasols as well as several lounge-like sitting areas.

Mistral is now open every day from 10am till late (until the last diners leave) serving a variety of Italian dishes such as pasta, pizza, fish and meats, as well as a nice selection of cocktails – and as promised the prices are ‘populares’ meaning that the prices are somewhat comparable to restaurants in La Romana town. For example a Presidente beer is just RD$70 (about US$2) and a portion of pasta is RD$300 (about USD$8).

Since their opening on Sunday, Mistral have received a steady stream of costumers for both lunch and dinner – long may it continue!

Here are our photos of the opening event:

Dinner at MISTRAL: Following the opening, we went to MISTRAL on Wednesday evening the 10th of August with 6 friends and we enjoyed a wonderfully relaxed dinner in the laid-back environment. Philip and I ate the chef’s special Tagliatelle al Pesto, which was very good and in the end the bill (including a healthy number of beers) was less than RD$5000 for all of us. Not bad at all! We will publish a full review of MISTRAL soon! MISTRAL can be found in the Marina Casa de Campo in the Casa de Casmpo resort, La Romana in the Dominican Republic.
