Last weekend from the 2nd to the 4th of November 2012, the 8th annual FUNGLODE golf tournament was celebrated in Casa de Campo, with participants enjoying cocktail celebrations on both Friday and Saturday evenings.
The tournament, which raises funds for activities, projects, research and publications funded by the FUNGLODE foundation (the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development), began on Friday evening the 2nd of November with a welcome cocktail at the La Romana Country Club, when the tournament’s more than 200 participants enjoyed cocktails, picadera and the opportunity to interact with fellow golfers.
Among those attending the cocktail were Eddy Martinez, President of the FUNGLODE Organizing Committee; Rosalba Morera, executive director, Carlos Arias, Technical Director, and other members of FUNGLODE Cup organizing team, including: Tito Lopez and Domingo Tavarez, as well as Nicholas Vargas, National Golf Commissioner.
The following day (Saturday) tournament rounds were played on 2 of Casa de Campo’s most famous Pete Dye designed courses; Teeth of the Dog and La Romana Country Club, following which guests enjoyed another evening out at the Plaza Chavón in Altos de Chavón, where in addition to refreshments, participants admired the beauty of Altos de Chavón in the evening glow.
Amongst the many sponsors of this prestigious annual event, attended by former President of the Dominican Republic and President of FUNGLODE Dr. Leonel Fernandez, was Chivas Regal whiskey.
