Our sister publication, Plano Profile magazine recently hosted its 15th Annual Women in Business event in Plano, Texas. The 1-day conference was the first major event to be realized since Plano Profile was brought into the family of publications owned by Philip Silvestri and overseen by his wife, Rebecca Silvestri, whose focus is on building communities and delivering insightful and relevant hyper-local content.

The event featured a keynote speech from Julia Wada, Group Vice President, Human Resources and Business Technology Solutions, Toyota Financial Services and a panel discussion with speakers; Stacey Sullivan, Senior Manager of External Communications, FedEx Office; Connie Rogers, Regional Manager Investment/Fiduciary Services Southwest, Wells Fargo; Cheryl Jackson, Founder of Minnie’s Food Pantry.

The gathering which opened with a networking cocktail hour and included lunch catered by local celebrity chef Tre Wilcox, saw more than 200 businesswomen (and men) from across North Dallas convene to learn how Communication, Collaboration and Community contribute to the success of women in the workplace.

The program opened with a welcome from Philip Silvestri who introduced the event’s emcee, local personality and star of The Real Housewives of Dallas, LeeAnne Locken, as well as radio talk show host Jeff Crilley who led a Q&A with the panelists. Keynote speaker and Toyota executive Julia Wada quoted Verna Myers, “Diversity is being invited to the party; inclusion is being asked to dance.” All four business leaders found dynamic ways to enlighten, entertain educate the crowd on how they themselves have maneuvered and succeeded as women in business, providing insight and advice for fellow women and men on how to reach the top and how to support colleagues reach their full potential.

Peppered with ample networking opportunities, the event presented an incredible opportunity to learn from these business leaders, while at the same time having the opportunity to make new friends and business acquaintances. This year’s event was sponsored by The Medical Center of Plano, Medical City Frisco, Toyota Financial Services, Wells Fargo The Private Bank, as well as Seasons 52, Tre Wilcox Cooking Concepts and Real News Public Relations.
