In an attempt to make things safer for all of us happy residents of this country, the beautiful Dominican Republic, the main form of ID, better known as ‘cédula’ is being modernized.

The cedula will now include biometric data, this means that apart from the photo and signature it will also include the fingerprint of every Dominican citizen. This will help towards reducing the amount of IDs being duplicated around the country.
Casa de Campo very kindly has offered its services and has been providing the opportunity to all residents and employees to go through this transition process at the Cacique Conference Center of the Casa de Campo Hotel. This basically means that those of us with access to Casa de Campo can avoid the seemingly endless line in La Romana, so thank you Casa de Campo!
This week is your last chance to do this in Casa de Campo as they will no longer be available to do it after Friday. For now, they are working everyday from 8:00am to 5:00pm and the change of cedula is free of charge. Everybody has to have changed their cedula within 18months, after that they will become obsolete and the transition must be complete by the time elections come around (mid-August 2016).
This service is only available to Dominican citizens, not residents. For residents who need to change their cedula, the process is a little more complicated – we are currently investigating that.
Change of Cedula:
When: 8:00am to 5:00pm until Friday
Where: Salón Cacique at the Casa de Campo Hotel
