The Blue Flag international recognition program for beaches and marinas awarded Casa de Campo’s Minitas Beach along with seven other certified segments in the La Romana destination.
Coordinated globally by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and locally by the Dominican Republic’s Institute of Environmental Law (IDARD), the program highlights the high-quality standards of these beaches to foster sustainable development practices and environmental education programs for visitors and communities. These initiatives aim to raise awareness about the preservation and conservation of coastal-marine areas.

Miguel Abreu, Resident Manager of Casa de Campo Resort and Villas, expressed pride in the resort’s achievement of the Blue Flag certification once again and reminded that Minitas Beach was the first to receive this recognition in the country. He thanked the Casa de Campo team for their efforts in maintaining high standards and good practices that make the beach a model for the Caribbean.

The La Romana tourist destination has once again gained international attention by securing Blue Flag certification for seven of its beaches for the seventh consecutive year, making it the country’s most certified tourist area. These beaches include Bayahibe Beach (operated by Hilton La Romana), Dominicus Beach, La Laguna Beach (operated by Viva Dominicus Beach & Palace by Wyndham, Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus, Catalonia Bayahibe & Royal La Romana, Dreams Dominicus La Romana, and Sunscape Dominicus La Romana), and Minitas Beach, operated by Casa de Campo Resort & Villas.
“This recognition represents the highest environmental quality standards, as each segment participating in the program complies with a series of criteria related to responsible management, water quality, environmental education, safety, services, and accessibility,” said Andrés Fernández, President of the La Romana-Bayahibe Hotel Association, during the official flag-raising ceremony held at Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, where Blue Flag flags and certificates were presented, accrediting each operator’s segment as clean, safe, and accessible for the 2024-2025 period.

“This recognition is a testament to our association’s commitment and that of each of our members to preserving our natural resources,” Fernández added.
The beach segment evaluations were carried out by a rigorous interdisciplinary jury composed of authorities from 11 institutions, including the Ministries of Environment and Natural Resources, Tourism, Education, the National Competitiveness Council, the National Aquarium, CONADIS, Civil Defense, CIBIMA, ASONAHORES, and the Propagas Foundation.
