The Romana Golf Association announced this Thursday the second Golf Classic (Asoglar) 2022, dedicated to the memory of Mr. José Lahoz Rodríguez (Joselin).
José Lahoz Rodríguez (Joselin) started playing golf in 1962. Before that, he had played baseball and volleyball. Joselin has been one of the most outstanding golf players in the country since there are many tournaments where he has always participated with an outstanding performance. He was inducted into the Romanense Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
In the 1980s, with a handicap of 2, he began a journey of international competitions representing the country in the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships, open category (Junior) for the famous Hoermann Cup in Puerto Rico, Barbados, Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and Santo Domingo.
He attended Venezuela twice on behalf of the country to participate in the Simón Bolívar Cup, he attends Zaragoza, Spain, in the Hispanic Cup, where he managed to qualify to compete in the Amateur Golf World Cup, representing our country.
His participation in international events does not stop. In Guadalajara, Mexico, he attends the Latin American Golf Cup twice, in Miami, Florida America’s Cup, in Puerto Rico in the Gran Meniere Cup, in pairs in the modality Scratch wherein two opportunities he obtains the first place, coming in second and third place in two other participations.
The information was released at a press conference held at the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD), where Asoglar leaders and directors of the Dominican Golf Federation (Fedogolf) met.
The tournament will be held on June 4th at The Links golf course in Casa de Campo starting at 8:30 am. The modality of the event is best-ball and twosome.
