July 1, 2020, will not be another day in the rich history of Casa de Campo Resort & Villas. Is that after the closure of the Covid-19 pandemic, the luxury resort located in La Romana, Dominican Republic, reopened its doors with a careful security protocol. In addition, it resumed its calendar of top-level events after confirming the realization of the VI Pro-Am Latin America, one of the highlights of the golf season in the Caribbean.
“It is a fantastic event, the fans very much enjoy the opportunity to compete alongside the professionals on a spectacular and demanding course such as Teeth of The Dog. In addition, beyond golf, a framework of camaraderie is generated among all the participants who enjoy the Casa de Campo experience in its entirety, ”says Manuel Relancio, Head Pro of Casa de Campo. “Without a doubt, it will be a very special edition, different due to the world context, but we are very happy to be able to carry it out despite everything. The VI Pro-Am Latin America will be held from August 11 to 15, with 54 holes, and the teams will be made up of one professional and four amateurs. Each of the rounds will be played on the same stage: Teeth of The Dog, the Caribbean’s number one golf course and among the world’s top 50 outside the United States.
A good number of teams have already confirmed their presence for this sixth edition, among them, the defenders of the title “Los Laguniteros” of Venezuela, led by professional Rafael Guerrero Lauria and fans Leopoldo Arévalo, Ysaías Barnola, Alberto Lauria and Santiago Sabal.
The teams will be divided into categories according to the team’s total handicap index. In the first round, the best ball (net score) of the team will be counted, while in the last 36 holes, 1 best ball (net score) and 1 best ball (gross score) will be counted. All teams will compete in their categories and in the general category in which the winner will win the “Champions Cup”.
Professionals will also compete in a separate category under the Stableford scoring system. Points will be awarded as follows: 1 point per bogey, 2 points per pair, 3 points per birdie, 4 points per eagle, and 5 points per albatross.

For the peace of mind of each visitor, Casa de Campo has made significant investments to prevent COVID-19 infections and implemented the “Casa Cares” program.
