Casa de Campo photo of the week: Pink sky at night

sunset teeth of the dogI simply love photographing the sunset – which is great news for our doggy, as it means she gets to come walking with me every evening on the Teeth of the Dog – which is without a doubt the best place to view the sunset in Casa de Campo.

sunset teeth of the dogThis photo was taken at the end of a balmy rainy day – and it couldn’t have been a more spectacular sunset. The sky glowed pink, orange and blue all at once – and in every direction. The photo shown on the right was taken with my camera pointing south out across the Caribbean sea.

A great tip for enjoying and photographing the sunset is: be patient! Often I see other people out on the Teeth of the Dog (hole #8 is a favorite spot)- they watch the sunset and then they leave, BUT often the most beautiful colors appear about 10 minutes after then sun has disappeared, and they continue to glow for as long as 30 minutes after the sun has gone. The above photo was taken sometime after sunset – so I’ll think you’ll agree it’s worth waiting around!

Another superb place to enjoy the sunset is in Bayahibe (now just 20 minutes away thanks to the Autopista del Coral highway) – click here for photos and tips for enjoying the sunset in Bayahibe!
