Rebecca Hughes ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

If you’re in Facebook you’ve probably already heard about the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, well today Casa de Campo Living nominates YOU to take this challenge!

The aim of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is to raise awareness of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease which slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe.

So why should YOU take this challenge?

Well for us here at Casa de Campo Living and indeed the entire Casa de Campo community, this cause is very dear to our hearts. You see, David Winn who has been part of our community for more than 20 years has been diagnosed with ALS.

And in the face of this diagnosis, David and his family have vowed to “Winn The Fight” – pulling together to not only raise awareness, but also to raise money to fund research and to give aid to other ALS patients. So far Team Winn The Fight have raised over US$46,000. CLICK HERE TO DONATE NOW!

David Winn, Katie Winn

“For those of you who don’t know, last year my Father was diagnosed with Bulbar onset ALS. Often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe.

My father is such an inspirational person to so many people, especially to myself. He is the most hard working man I have ever met and he has so much love to give. He is a person people look up to at work, he is the best friend anyone could have, he is a loving husband and most of all he is the greatest father anyone could ask for.

When I found out that he was diagnosed with ALS, it was so heartbreaking for me, but this past year, I have watched him fight with everything he’s got and live his life like there is no tomorrow. I’m so proud of him, for everything he has done and everything has lived through. My dad is my Superhero!

So take the time to not only have fun with this challenge (because let me tell you it’s A LOT of fun) but spread the word, raise awareness, research ALS and donate to my family’s team, Team Winn The Fight!”
