In May of last year (2010), Amelia Vega, the first girl from the Dominican Republic to be crowned ‘Miss Universe’ was in Casa de Campo filming her first ever music video and now following the success of this video, Amelia is about to launch her first album “Agua Dulce” and has been touring all over Latin America!
Amelia Vega is the niece of Juan Luis Guerra, a Dominican singer-songwriter most famous for his merengue music and who performed in Altos de Chavón with STING in 2006. The video for ‘Pasa un segundito’, Amelia’s debut song as a singer was filmed mainly on Casa de Campo’s Playa Minitas in the private area to the side of the Beach Club by le Cirque restaurant, whilst some other scenes were filmed at the Altos de Chavón amphitheater (where we will see STING perform in September).

Following the launch of ‘Pasa un segundito’ and the video filmed in Casa de Campo, Amelia has now completed her debut album ‘Agua Dulce’, which will be released on Itunes and Amazon on August the 30th and has just started a Latin American Tour with her uncle Juan Luis Guerra – which has already seen her performing in Ecuador, Panama, Puerto Rico and of course the Dominican Republic.
Whether or not Casa de Campo really played any role in Amelia Vega’s continuing success we don’t know, but we are certainly grateful that Amelia chose our beautiful Casa de Campo as the perfect location to film her debut single and we very much hope she will return to shoot more videos in the future or even to sing in the Altos de Chavón Amphitheater.
