Café de la Leche returns to Casa de Campo this Friday, March 11th at Vivero #37 with mother and daughter duo Cecilia and Juana Rodríguez.
Café de la Leche was founded in 2001 by a group of ladies from the Patronato Benéfico Oriental (PBO) to benefit the children of the Hogar del Niño. Milk is one of the primary needs for the children in their nursery home. Babies up to 6 months need around 8 bottles of milk per day, and as they grow the amount is reduced and complimented with solid food. The kitchen prepares more than 800 bottles a day!!!
Thanks to your contributions to the Café de la Leche and other activities for the Hogar del Niño, they are able to supply all their children during the week and even prepare spare bottles for them to take over the weekend! Café de la Leche is able to provide 60% of the total amount needed, but we are hopeful that in the future this number will increase thanks to the generosity of our community. What’s also amazing is that not only is the milk consumed, but that the bottles, cans, etc. that they all come in are used by the children to make instruments, artwork and more.
At Café de la Leche, Hogar del Niño asks you to contribute Milex Kinder, Gold, NAN, Enfamil, Alacta Plus, Nido Crecimiento of 1,800 grams, or RD $1,200 for the crib rooms where they feed, bathe, and clothe more than 200 babies daily.
Join this amazing labour of love and community friendship of Café de la Leche. We look forward to seeing you there this Friday, making this Cafe de la Leche with Cecilia and Juana a memorable one!!
