At the beginning of the year I hadn’t even heard of the Cafe de la Leche and now as I look forward to this month’s event, next Friday the 5th of June, I have to admit that I am one of Cafe de la Leche’s biggest fans! Now that I have visited the Hogar del Niño’s Crib Room (‘La Sala Cuna’) and seen for myself all the babies who are cared for there, the Cafe de La Leche is a charity event I am happy to give my time and money to support. Not only is it a great social event and a chance to wear one of my new dresses, but its a fantastic and deserving cause!
This month’s Cafe de la Leche is being hosted by Maria Elmudfi at her Casa de Campo home, Golf Villa No.251, starting at 5pm. The aim of the Cafe de la Leche is to gather donations of dried milk, baby formula or cereals to feed the 200 babies cared for everyday in the Hogar del Niño’s Crib Room.
A quick word from this month’s host, Maria:
“My mom has been involved with the Hogar ever since it got founded and now that Xiomarita is leading it and carrying on such a big task with responsibility and pride as has her mom, it inspires me to offer my help in any way I can. I promise I’ll do my best to host a pleasant gathering for friends that come together for a good cause.”
The Hoger del Niño is a magical place, I strongly recommend a visit to anyone who has never been, or has not been recently. The centre is truely inspiring, the children in it’s care are provided with everything they need – good food, education and even medical and dental care. To learn a little more, you can read about my visit read my experience: Discovering Hogar del Niño. To organize your own tour,  just email info@pbo.org.do.
I hope that you are all looking forward to this month’s Cafe de la Leche as much as I am! I will be there with my faithful camera to capture the party as it unfolds, hope to see you there!
