What a year, but let’s look at the bright side… It’s almost Christmas! Are you ready for the most magical time of the year? Every year Mrs. Xiomara Menéndez, founder of the Patronato Benefico Oriental, umbrella charity for the Hogar del Niño hosts the “Christmas Café de la Leche,” which takes place at her beautiful home. This year it will be slightly different.

Even though we will not be able to get together and celebrate we encourage you to still contribute to the amazing work that the Patronato is doing for its kids and families by “dropping off” chocolate and candies for the Hogar del Niño’s Christmas Treat bags! The “dropoff” will take place from December 1st – 4th, to Mrs. Xiomara’s home Bahia Minitas #5.

Ordinarily, each person who attends the traditional Café de la Leche is asked to donate milk, baby formula, and cereals, which are then given to the crib room at the Hogar del Niño in La Romana, and is used to feed the over 200 babies they care for there. The milk donated at the Cafe de la Leche constitutes over 60% of the milk used in the crib room, so it’s really important that all the community keep attending!

The foundation has worked hard throughout these months to guarantee that their kids and families are looked after during these difficult times. Let’s continue helping them out so each of the kids can have a happy Christmas season!
