Cafe de la Leche, Casa de Campo

Cafe de la Leche, Casa de CampoAll good things come to those who wait…and in this case we do thank you for your patience in waiting for our photos and coverage of the November edition of the Café de la Leche hosted by Yrene Caslini.

Merilee Gagnon, Cafe de La Leche, Casa de CampoAnd so it was on yet another beautiful day in Casa de Campo, the ladies of our community gathered for a friendly early evening drink and a bite to eat, in the beautiful garden of Mauro and Yrene Caslini in Casa de Campo’s Vivero neighborhood.

Originally from Italy, Yrene treated her guests to quiet a feast with everything from vegetable crudités to mini-sandwiches, macaroons and even some very tasty strawberry tarts.

Once again the Café de la Leche united our community for the common cause of education and a better, brighter future for the children of the Dominican Republic. While a donation of milk or cereal may seem small, the Hogar del Niño relies on these monthly donations collected during the Café de la Leche gatherings to be able to feed the more than 200 babies they care for every day in their crib room. Little babies who represent the future of La Romana, little babies who represent hope…While there is no denying we Casa de Campo ladies love nothing more than to spend time with our friends, when in doing so we’re helping the future of our country, well, there’s nothing better than that!

Remember the next Café de la Leche, otherwise known as the Christmas Café de la Leche is scheduled for Friday December 11 and as is tradition will be hosted by Xiomara Menedez at her Casa de Campo villa, at Bahia Minitas 5. There is nothing quiet as magical as the Christmas Café de la Leche so save the date, click here for photos of last year’s celebration and we look forward to seeing you there! (Oh and before you go stocking up on milk, for the Christmas Café de la Leche, guests are asked to bring donations of candy which are then distributed at the Hogar del Niño’s annual Christmas party).

The following collection of photos were taken at the Café de la Leche hosted by Yrene Caslini:
